  • Overview

    WOOD is currently hiring a cleared (TS/SCI with Poly) Network and Storage Engineer to support our team in Ft. Meade, MD. The Engineer will provide subject matter expertise for specialized network and storage integration support. 

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluates new products, methodologies, and agency policies to continually improve data center services while reducing cost and customer turn-around.
    • Works on architecture documents to forge new milestones to allow data center offerings stay relevant.
    • Participates in future roadmap decisions for storage, network, HPC, and server support.
    • Analyzes issues, including capacity planning for HPC-specific solutions such as Lustre fabric and high-speed networks.
    • Provides assistance, as needed, to engineering teams to resolve tomorrow’s HPC technology challenges.
    • Designs, documents, and leads network modernization as the data centers continue to retire spanning tree and adopt the more flexible spine/leaf architecture.
    • Evaluates and determines future Software Defined Network solutions.
    • With networks, firewalls, and HPC network requirements all being in different organizations, driving continuity among the teams and array of devices.
    • Works with Lustre Interconnects Team to make continual refinements as the high-speed storage fabric grows to multiple data centers within each campus.
    • Drives automation across the three data centers.

    Qualifications

    *All Candidates must have a TS/SCI clearance with a Polygraph

    • Fifteen (15) years' systems engineering experience supporting DoD/IC programs. 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Systems, and Engineering Management, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, and Physics.
      • Four (4) years of additional systems engineering experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree
      • A Master's degree in a qualifying engineering field may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, thereby reducing the requirement to thirteen (13) years of experience
    • Ability to write Ansible, Python, and other scripting languages.
    • Experience with network architecture and design.
    • Experience with strategic planning.
    • Ability to think holistically.
    • Ability to partner with SPD Architects to design the next-generation SPD high-speed and low-speed TCP networks.
