  • Overview

    WOOD is currently hiring a Systems Engineer, Level 5 to join our team in the Ft. Meade, MD area.  The Systems Engineer will support engineering documentation, requirements, and architecture as a project starts early and progresses through its lifecycle. The Sr. Systems Engineer will have broad experience in leading systems engineering efforts to make development projects successful.  The program is highly visible and requires high performers to lead and integrate the development efforts. 


    • Lead Systems Engineering activities for projects to include supervising the work of project engineer staff and technicians
    • Approve delivery of work products across multiple process areas
    • Independently make decisions regarding engineering issues and methodology for projects 
    • Brief stakeholders and present status reports on all technical aspects of the project 
    • Project planning, project assessment and control, decision management, risk management, configuration management
    • Perform requirements gathering, analysis and documentation as needed


    *All Candidates must have a TS/SCI clearance with a Polygraph


    • Fifteen (15) years' systems engineering experience supporting DoD/IC programs. 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Systems, and Engineering Management, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, and Physics.
      • Four (4) years of additional systems engineering experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree
      • A Master's degree in a qualifying engineering field may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, thereby reducing the requirement to thirteen (13) years of experience
    • Ability to breakdown complex problem space, formulate technical strategies, build action plans, and track progress against established baselines to resolve technical challenges and meet customer expectations.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting to complete assigned tasks within expected time-lines.
    • Flexible/easily adaptable within a dynamic work environment that may require surge efforts.
    • Systems engineering experience from both technical and programmatic perspectives.
    • Experience providing analysis of functional, system and non-functional requirements, data flows and dependencies.
