  • Overview

    WOOD is currently hiring a cleared (TS/SCI with Poly) Linux Systems Administrator.  The Linux Administrator provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. 


    • Manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of Linux/Unix systems
    • Provides assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems
    • Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc
    • Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution
    • Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
    • Optimizes system operations and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning
    • Configures and manages mostly Linux and Unix operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity of and configures network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
    • Builds, configures, monitors and maintains virtual environments and storage
    • Supports the design of systems, mission architecture and associated hardware
    • Possesses a working knowledge and understanding of system administration interdependencies as part of the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
    • Analyzes and resolves complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration


    *All Candidates must have a TS/SCI clearance with a Polygraph

    • Ten (10) years of experience as a System/Network Administrator
    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required
      • Five (5) years of SA experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree
    • Contractor shall currently possess and maintain one of the following certifications:
      • CompTIA – Linux+
      • Linux Professional Institute – Level 1 (LPI-1)
      • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA)
      • Sun Certified Systems Administrator (SCSA)
      • VMware Certified Professional (vSphere 5) – VCP5
      • CompTIA – Network+
      • CompTIA – Storage+
    • Experience in Linux
