Overview

System Administrator Level 3 – Linux/Unix

Responsibilities

  • Provides the Tier 3 support and serves on the front line as technical personnel on the System Administration team.
  • Provides administrative support of UNIX systems.
  • Duties include installing the operating system, managing the configurations, managing the ACLs, troubleshooting, monitoring the status of all systems and applications, etc.
  • Duties also include supporting installed applications and network services (NIS, DNS, LDAP, etc.).
  • Serves as the senior level System Administrator.

Qualifications

*All Candidates must have a TS/SCI clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph

 

Years of Experience Required

  • Eight (8) years and no degree

  • Six (6) years and a relevant technical Associate's degree

  • Four (4) years and a relevant technical Bachelor's degree

  • Four (4) years and a relevant technical Master's degree

Skills Required

  • Eight (8) years’ experience in the System Administration field. (Relevant education may be applied to this requirement only - Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Math or IS)
  • Possess at least one (1) of the following certifications:
    • Linux Foundation Certified Systems Administrator (LFCS)
    • CompTIA Linux+
    • Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC)
    • Novell/SUSE Certified Linux Administrator
    • Red Hat
    • Oracle Linux OCA
  • Experienced in writing shell scripts (e.g., Shell and PERL) to automate administration functions and to parse files.
  • Technically proficient at installing, configuring, and maintaining UNIX (both at a physical and virtual environment).
  • Must have at least one (1) year experience as a system administrator for the Red Hat Linux operating system.
  • Shall possess the ability to work from a Command Line Interface (CLI).
  • Must have completed an approved Customer Service Training course within the year preceding engagement on the contract, or must complete such a course within six months of engagement on the contract.
