Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Senior Systems Engineer (SE3) with deep expertise in Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and algorithm evolution. This role is critical to ensuring our systems remain secure and resilient in the face of emerging quantum threats. The ideal candidate will lead the design, integration, and implementation of quantum-resistant architectures, working closely with cross-functional teams to modernize cryptographic frameworks and future-proof mission-critical systems.

Application Process: Interested candidates should submit their resume detailing their qualifications and experience.

Security Clearance Requirements:

This position requires all candidates to be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and translate user requirements into secure, scalable system architectures that incorporate PQC principles.
  • Lead the design and integration of quantum-resistant algorithms into existing and new systems, ensuring compliance with DoDAF and SOA frameworks.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments related to quantum computing threats and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain system engineering documentation, including System Engineering Plans, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement cryptographic agility and ensure systems are prepared for post-quantum transition.
  • Guide the development of simulation models and prototypes to evaluate quantum algorithm performance and system impact.
  • Participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), design reviews, and program reviews to ensure alignment with evolving cryptographic standards.
  • Support the development of Information Assurance strategies that incorporate PQC mechanisms such as lattice-based, hash-based, and multivariate polynomial cryptography.
  • Stay current with NIST PQC standardization efforts and integrate approved algorithms into system designs.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required and twenty (20) years as a SE in program and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Note: Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Additional Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum of 20 years of systems engineering experience, with at least 5 years focused on cryptographic systems or algorithm development.
  • Demonstrated experience with PQC algorithm implementation, cryptographic protocol design, or quantum threat modeling.
  • Familiarity with NIST PQC candidates and transition strategies.
  • Strong understanding of system security engineering, including FIPS 140-3, CNSSP-15, and NSA Suite B/C.
  • Proficiency in tools such as MATLAB, Python, or C/C++ for algorithm prototyping and simulation.
  • Experience with DoD acquisition lifecycle, JCIDS documentation, and Certification & Accreditation (C&A) processes.
