Salary Range: **$175,000 to $210,000 per year

** Starting salary is based on minimum education and years of experience and the max salary can increase based on education and/or experience.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations to lead the company’s customer-facing and internal operational functions. This role is central to ensuring the successful execution of all active contracts and subcontracts, overseeing security and personnel operations, and driving scalable growth across the enterprise.

 

Security Clearance Requirements:

This position requires all candidates to be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of WOOD’s strategic goals, ensuring alignment with growth, delivery, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee and optimize internal project management systems, ensuring visibility, accountability, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Serve as the senior operational leader for all back-office functions, including staffing, onboarding, contract execution, and compliance.
  • Direct and support Program Managers to ensure delivery excellence across all customer engagements.
  • Manage all active contracts and subcontracts, ensuring performance, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee WOOD’s security program in coordination with the CSSO and FSO, ensuring compliance with DCSA, NIST, CMMC, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Lead personnel operations including workforce planning, performance management, and retention strategies.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and operational automation to support scalability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning, risk management, and business continuity.
  • Represent WOOD in customer meetings, audits, and industry forums as needed.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in operations leadership.
  • Proven experience supporting the MPO or similar federal customers.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in operations leadership, including contract and personnel management.
  • Strong understanding of federal contract types (Cost Plus, T&M, FFP) and delivery models.
  • Proven experience managing technical systems and tools, including project management platforms, compliance systems, and security infrastructure.
  • PMP certification required; Agile certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in staffing and workforce planning for government contracts.
  • Deep knowledge of CMMC, NIST, and IC security compliance frameworks.
  • Technologically forward mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience implementing AI or automation solutions in operational workflows.
  • Ability to lead with vision, inspire teams, and drive cultural alignment with WOOD’s mission and values.
  • Comfortable with change, ambiguity, and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience supporting ISO audits, security audits, and internal R&D coordination.
